Healing Your Root Chakra
Coming Home to Yourself: Grounding, Trust & the Sacred Return to Wholeness
Your Root Chakra
The root chakra, or Muladhara, is the foundation of your energetic body. It lives at the base of your spine, at the seat of your being, and it holds everything connected to safety, belonging, and the right to exist. When your root chakra is strong, you feel stable and held by life itself — like your feet know the Earth, like you have a place in the world, like you are enough simply because you are.
But when fear, instability, or trauma take hold, the root begins to weaken. You might feel anxious or restless. You may struggle to trust — trust in others, in yourself, or even in the unfolding of life. You may feel disconnected from your body, ungrounded, or unable to settle. You may obsess about money, safety, or the future. These are whispers from the root asking you to come home.
Root chakra healing is not loud. It is not grand or dramatic. It is subtle and sacred. It’s warm tea. It’s bare feet in grass. It’s breathing slowly with your hand resting on your belly. It’s nourishing food, a swept floor, a gentle stretch. It is creating beauty without needing to share it — sketching on paper, writing a melody, or tending to a small plant you rescued from the edge of neglect.
For me, healing began with coding music and a tending to a plant named I named Herbie. I found him abandoned on my patio, wilted and forgotten. I cleaned him up, gave him water, and called him by name. It was simple, and it was sacred. Music, art, writing, and computers were always passions of mine. I lost them for years, but after recognizing the need to heal my root chakra, I began playing with math and sound, and learning to code through an online course and free music coding program that let me write music again but in a digital way. And somehow, that opened something. A small door inside me cracked open, and I could hear the voice of my inner child saying: “You’re safe now. You can stay.”
The root chakra asks us to remember that we are not separate from the Earth. That we belong here. That we do not have to hustle for our worthiness. That we can trust the rhythm of life even when we can’t predict it. Especially when we can’t predict it.
You don’t need to heal your root chakra all at once. You don’t even need to do it “right.” Just start where you are. Let your body be your guide. Let slowness be your ceremony. Let each small act of care — for yourself, for a plant, for your space — be a declaration: I am here. I am worthy. I am home.
You deserve to feel grounded. You deserve to feel safe in your own skin. You deserve to rest.
And the beautiful thing? The root will always welcome you back. I’m proof. I’m back!
